Jagan Reddy dismisses sister YS Sharmila, says Congress is ‘insignificant’

YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy dismissed Congress as “insignificant” in Andhra Pradesh, referencing its minimal 1.7% vote share. “Let’s not talk about a party which is insignificant in Andhra Pradesh,” he said, downplaying his sister, YS Sharmila’s political standing.
He said this in response to YS Sharmila’s demand that YSRCP MLAs who boycotted the state assembly resign.
This comes one day after Sharmila accused the ruling YSR Congress Party’s social media cell of attacking her character and spreading indecent remarks against her, as well as other family members. Addressing the media in Vijayawada, Sharmila alleged that Jagan not only turned a blind eye to these posts but also encouraged his party’s social media team to target her. “The YSRCP’s social media activists are an evil army,” she stated, further criticising Jagan for allowing unchecked offensive content.
The siblings’ relationship has soured publicly in recent months. In September, Jagan told the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) that Sharmila had attempted to usurp shares in a family power company using their mother’s name, which Sharmila denied. Last month, she penned an open letter accusing Jagan of dividing the family and becoming “unrecognisable” after becoming Chief Minister, reigniting tensions over their late father’s business assets.
